Common Questions - RentCheck

This article answers common questions about how the RentCheck integration works with Property Meld, including inspection-to-Meld behavior, sync timing, and notifications.

A resident reported an issue but no Meld was created

This is expected. Residents can flag maintenance issues during an inspection, but resident-submitted inspections do not create Melds automatically. Review the flagged issues after the inspection and decide which ones should become Melds.

Can residents create Melds directly from RentCheck?

No. Residents can flag potential issues. You control whether those findings become Melds.

Why did one inspection create several Melds?

RentCheck groups inspection findings by Property Meld work category. When an inspection turns up issues in more than one category, you get a separate Meld for each category. This is expected.

Can I choose which issues get grouped together?

Grouping is determined automatically by work category rather than selected per inspection.

Why are the inspection photos not attached to the Meld?

Inspection photos and videos are not transferred as Property Meld attachments. The Meld description includes a link to view the media in RentCheck.

A property or unit is missing in RentCheck

Property and unit information syncs once daily, so a property added to Property Meld today may not appear in RentCheck until tomorrow. If it is still missing after the next sync, contact RentCheck Support at support@getrentcheck.com.

RentCheck is not showing the latest Meld status

RentCheck checks open work order statuses once daily, so a recent change in Property Meld may take until the next sync to appear. If the status is still wrong after that, contact RentCheck Support.

My Meld failed to create

RentCheck records the error on the RentCheck work order. Retry creating the Meld from RentCheck. If it keeps failing, contact RentCheck Support so the error can be investigated.

My resident was not notified

Property Meld handles resident notifications after the Meld is created. Confirm the Meld was created successfully, then review your resident notification settings in Property Meld. Contact Property Meld Support if the settings look correct and the notification did not go out.

The owner was not notified or cannot see the Meld

Owner visibility and notifications are controlled by your Property Meld settings. Contact Property Meld Support for help reviewing your configuration.

Can I change the priority, work type, or category?

Yes. Set defaults in your RentCheck integration settings, and review the key details during the Meld creation process.
