Understanding Projects in Meld
Projects are a collection of Melds associated with a larger goal, such as Turnovers, Renovations, etc. This article outlines the two methods for creating a new Project: starting from scratch and using a Project Template.

Creating a New Project
Step 1:
- Navigate to the left side of the page and click on Projects. Then, select Add Project.
Step 2:
Fill out the following required fields:
- Type (Required): Categorize the project (e.g., Mitigation, Other, Renovation, or Turn).
- Meld Location Type (Required): Choose between Unit or Entire Property.
- Unit or Property (Required): Select the specific Unit or Property for the project.
- Name (Required): The name is automatically generated based on the selected Type and Unit but can be edited.
- Coordinators (Required): Assign Project Coordinators who will be responsible for the project.
- Start Date (Required): Defaults to the current date, but you can adjust it.
- Due Date (Required): This is calculated based on the Start Date plus the duration specified in the Template Target Duration.
- Description (Optional): Add a description to clarify the purpose and scope of the project.
Step 3:
- Click Create Project to finalize.
Creating a Project from a Template
Step 1:
- Click on Projects and then select Templates.
Step 2:
- Click Create Project next to the existing Project Template, or select the desired Project Template and click Create Project from this Template.
Note: A Project Template must contain at least one Meld Template to proceed.
Step 3:
- Complete any missing required fields as outlined in the Creating a New Project section, then click Create Project.
Creating a Project from an Existing Meld
Step 1:
- Go to Melds and click on the title of the Meld you wish to add into a Project.
Step 2:
- Click the options icon, then select Create Project.
Step 3:
- Fill in the required fields as listed in the Creating a New Project section, then click Create Project.
