Using Project Templates
Project Templates streamline the creation of new projects for property turns or renovations by defining default Melds. This not only accelerates project initiation but also ensures consistency in execution. This article provides a comprehensive guide to understanding and utilizing Project Templates effectively.

Adding or Editing a Project Template
There is a system-generated Project Template that is provided which can be used as a guide. This initial Template can be edited or deleted. This section will provide the basic steps in navigating the Template and editing the details.
1. Navigate to Templates:
- Go to Projects > Templates and select the Standard Move Out template to view its details.
2. Adding a New Template:
- To add a new template, click Add Template. This process requires the addition of Meld Templates for comprehensive setup.
3. Editing Template Details:
- Access the Project Template details, including associated Meld Templates (e.g., Cleaning, Final Inspection, Rekey locks). Use the information panel on the left to manage Template attributes such as Duration, Template Type, and Template Description.
- Click the and Edit Project Template option.
- Modify Template attributes like Type, Name, Target Duration to set project timelines, and Description for clarity.
Fields to Update:
- Type: Categorize the template using options such as Mitigation, Other, Renovation, or Turn (Default).
- Name: Provide a name that helps in easy identification when creating new projects.
- Target Duration: Set the number of days intended to complete the project; this defaults the Project Due Date.
- Description: Add a description to clarify the purpose and use of the template.
4. Save Changes:
- Review your edits and click Save Template to update the Project Template.
Editing a Meld Template
The Project Template contains Meld Template(s) which are used to generate the Melds associated with a new Project. Refer to the Create Project using the Template section below for more detail.
1. Access Meld Template:
- Select a specific Meld Template (e.g., Rekey locks) from the Standard Move Out template to view its details.
2. Adding a New Meld Template:
- Click Add Meld Template within the Project Template to introduce new Meld Templates as required.
3. Configuring Meld Attributes:
- The Meld Template provides similar fields that are directly associated with Meld (refer to How to Create Meld Request for field descriptions).
- Define Meld-specific details like Target Duration, which influences the Meld Due Date for new projects generated from the Template. Refer to the Create Project using the Template section below for more detail.
4. Save Meld Template:
- After customization, click Save Meld Template to confirm changes.
Adding a Meld Template
Adding a Meld Template to a Project Template provides the ability to generate a Meld to be worked on the next new Project created from the Project Template.
1. Initiate Template Modification:
- From an existing Project Template, click Add Meld Template to include a new Meld Template.
2. Streamlined Creation:
Although similar to the Edit Meld Template section above, adding a new Meld Template is built with the Create Meld Template and Create and Add Another action buttons to allow for quickly adding Meld Templates to a Project Template.
Complete the Add Meld Template entry and click one of the following.
- Create Meld Template to save the Meld Template and navigate back to the Project Template details.
- Create and Add Another to save the existing Meld Template and clear the Add Meld Template form to allow the entry of subsequent Meld Templates.
Creating a Project using the Template
Building a Project Template provides the ability to quickly create a Project and associated Melds specific to a Unit or a Property. This will initiate the execution of a turnover.
1. Select Template:
- Navigate to Templates and choose the desired Project Template for creating a new project. Click Create Project to proceed.
2. Configuring Project Details:
In addition to the steps outlined under Adding or Editing a Project Template, specify additional details such as the Unit or Property, Project Name, Project Coordinators, Start Date, and Due Date.
- Unit or Property: Choose the Unit or Property for the project.
- Name: Automatically generated based on the selected Type and Unit, but can be modified.
- Coordinators: Assign Project Coordinators responsible for the project.
- Start Date: Defaults to the current date but can be adjusted.
- Due Date: Calculated from the Start Date plus the number of days specified in the Template Target Duration.
3. Initiate Project Creation:
- Click Create Project to save the new project and automatically generate associated Melds based on the selected Project Template (e.g., Standard Move Out).
4. Review Details:
- Verify the project details displayed post-creation to ensure accurate setup.
