As a property manager, you now have the ability to use @mentions to directly notify other managers and internal maintenance technicians that are not already set up to receive chat notifications. The @mentions serve as a powerful tool for directly engaging specific individuals, streamlining teamwork, and ensuring that important messages reach the right recipients promptly.
NOTE: If you do not currently have Chat @Mention functionality, reach out to your Customer Success Manager at success@propertymeld.com for information on how you can upgrade.
Whom can I @mention on a Meld?
Users aren’t available to mention unless all of the following are true:
- They are internal users (not vendor, resident, owner).
- The are in at least one of the Meld’s property groups.
- If the Meld has no property groups, this restriction doesn’t exist.
- They have “View/edit/reassign Melds” permission OR they are assigned to the Meld.
Neither of the following is required:
- They are on the Watchlist.
- They have the Management Message notification setting on.
Notification Behavior for Chat Mentions
When using chat mentions in Meld, users will receive both email and text notifications, regardless of their Management Message notification settings. By default, users are opted in to receive email notifications, so chat mentions will trigger an email notification.
To receive a text notification, the mentioned user must have a number entered in the 'Cell Phone' field within their Meld user account settings and have 'Receive Text Notifications' enabled. There is no requirement to enable specific text notification settings beyond acknowledging receipt of notifications from Meld.
What does the @mention do?
- All valid internal users in the watchlist get the message (as with normal chats).
- The mentioned users also get the message, even if they aren’t in the watchlist, and even if they don’t have the Management Message notification setting on.
- Mentioning a user does not affect whether they’re on the watchlist.
- Mentions can send outside the watchlist, unlike most meld notifications.
